Elder Romney's first email from the MTC:
"Iakwe! Eta in Elder Romney im matta eo ao ej Elder Kim!" I just said: "Hi I'm Elder Romney and my companion is Elder Kim!" Today is Our P-Day (Friday), I'm just doin luandry right now and the computers are in the same room. I pretty much can come back and look at my email today after I go to the temple. The first day was a little crazy at times. When I walked up with that host in the picture you sent. I entered the building and got my nametag, its a cool nametag. It is still Elder Romney but the rest is in marshallese. Anyways so after I got my nametag and got some stuff like my key to the dorm and my language books we went up to our dorm room and in the hallway I was met by a bunch of happy load Islanders and it was awesome. Right after I was welcomed in there was a guy that showed up that told us we needed to be more quiet so they avoided that and asked the guy that said to be quiet about something in the bathroom to distract him. I like all the islanders. They go to bed about 30 minutes or later than the 10:30 lights out rule. But the newbie elders like me in my room are still abiding by the rules. We also have a solo elder per se that is our district leader in our room as well, and he leaves on Tuesday for his mission, get ready for it, the Oklahoma, Marshallese speaking mission. That was weird to me but that sounds like a unique mission. My companion is cool, he was born and raised in Houston, Texas but he is Korean. The missionary from Springville is in my district. So I've seen him around but havn't talked to him. Anyways back to the rest of my first day, so after I put my stuff in the room, I went to a classroom, which was our Marshallese classroom, but when I walked in they had some phrases on the wall and the teacher started talking to me in Marshallese and I had to try and answer. It was difficult but fun and the language is cool. The rest of the missionaries slowly came into the room over the next 2 hours as we learned simple phrases and how to introduce ourselves. The rest of the day we just went to a workshop where there were either real or fake investigators and we talked to him and answered their questions as a huge group. So it was busy and my second day was busy as well. More language classes and then personal study is long, but manageable. It is fun and I enjoy it! I need to know everything about tonights game! Scores, what the offense looked like, defense, everything! I could possible have pictures up today so watch out for a second email if I can get some pictures up! Love you all and tell me what happens with the family. Send this email to everybody like all the Dattages and people you have on that big list of yours! Glad to hear that Hayden's team did well that is awesome! I told him when I get back he better be the next Wes Welker. I love you all and I love the gospel. If you need life advice go to the scriptures and prayer works too or use Ron Swanson's Pyramid of Greatness or just stay classy!! Bye! :D
